TEN2022 Group Exhibition presents 10 unique approaches to landscape by the following artists; Rachel Apelt, Helle Cook, Louise Isackson, Robbie Kirk, Sue Lee, Kellie North, Stephen Nothling, Paula Payne, Tiel Seivl-Keevers and Amica Whincop.
Rachel Apelt accesses a need for care towards the environment with her figurative pieces. Helle Cook through her window like images expresses the contrast in light between Australian light and her home country of Denmark. Louise Isackson works with colour and the interplay of positive and negative space to create lyrical images. Robbie Kirk refers to traditional Australian landscapes while placing iconic symbolic imagery from past epocs within her compositions. placed within. Sue Lee’s works are reminiscent of the Pop Era with bold colour and shapes her joy of painting. Kellie North’s evocative self photographic imagery positions herselp within the landscape with recognisable romantic motifs. Stephen Nothlings urban landscapes are local and specific are filled with high levels of technical skills, irony and humour. Paula Payne’s works are evocative of memory and places she’s visited, and the geological strata of what lives below the surface of the landscape. Tiel SeivlKeevers paintings belong in the genre of the Abstract Expressionists as she relates her layers paint and mark making to create depth that may or may not relate to specific places. Amica Whincop’s abstract paintings have a physical alchemy.
