This piece was inspired by the vibrant colourist works from the Fauvist movement in 20th Century. Kandinski, Expressionism and Fauvist colour are always present in my paintings. Most of my paintings begin with simple free mark-making. I am fascinated with the structures of lines and negative space all around us. Many of the compositions created, (such as this piece) are expressive colour interpretations of complex lines and shapes within a dense forest-like scene.
This painting called 'Dance beneath the Moon' is one of a collection of paintings called 'Night Light' series. I've created them by considering the light moods and tonal quality of forest and plants viewed under a moonlit night.
